Mayer Boot and Shoe Co., a Milwaukee company founded in the 1880s. The factory, built in 1892 and known as "The Fortress," still stands today and opened a couple of years ago as a residential building. There are several interesting write ups and photos of this cool building online, definitely worth a look. In excellent condition for their age, these boots
