Antique English 17th Century Charles II Carved Oak Coffer Panelled Chest 1680 Recently Added he was a judge ofSOLD A good antique late 17th century carved oak panelled chest, Charles II period, most likely West Country, circa 1680. The coffer having a hinged top with 'breadboard' ends, enclosing a large storage interior below with a lidded till to the right side, such tills would store candles that were made of tallow which were also a natural moth repellent. The front of the chest having a hemi spherical carved frieze, below are three panels inset with
