The experience photographingand later, filmingthrough the moving cars window greatly influenced his later use of panoramic cameras and his exploration of time. Foster was also impressed by landscapes of the mountain West by pioneer photographers Carleton Watkins, Timothy OSullivan, and W. H. Jackson
