This 1904 Canterbury Times postcard, depicts a gun cotton explosion attempting to break the ice which had trapped Scott's ship the Discovery in 1902. It was posted by Shackleton on his 1907 9 Nimrod expedition, using their special 1d Edward VII Land postage stamp, from Antarctica, to Joseph Kinsey. It
